How does the “mixed” model work? Refugees who have been relocated under the Blended VOR initiative receive financial assistance in the first 6 months after arrival through the federal government`s Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP). They are also fully covered by the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) for a full 12-month period in addition to provincial health insurance. Sponsors are responsible for the remaining 6 months of financial support. They may sponsor refugees themselves or work with others in the community to sponsor refugees.
